Ingvild Melby (born in Norway 1977) has a background in biology (ethology), and a Bachelor’s degree in Art History. She is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Art history at the University of Oslo.  Her photography often centers on our relationship with nature. In her work Ingvild blends elements from dream and reality, combining staged and documentary photography.

Nature often functions as an internal mirror in Ingvild’s photographs, where she simultaneously invites the viewer to use personal memories and imagination to complete the work.  She finds inspiration in art history, mythology, cinema and Nordic folklore.

Ingvild was selected as a finalist in the 2018 Lensculture Art Photography awards and was named one of Critical Mass top 50 photographers in 2019.
